Basir, Yosef be Avraham (Basir ha-Roeh)

   Iraqui Karaite author. He travelled to Jerusalem to join the Karaite community. He was one of the few Karaites who wrote responsa on theological and legal subjects. His major theological work is Kitab al-Muhtawi. His most important legal work is Kitab al-lstibsar. He also wrote polemical works against Islam, the Samaritans and the Rabbanites.
